Arrival
Friday, July 4th & Sunday, July 6th:
I left the States on July 4th, just in time to miss the fireworks, and arrived in LA to catch the midnight flight to Seoul. Most other Fulbright Korea ETAs were booked on this flight – there had been much talk of this #PartyPlane for weeks before we left. After I found my seat, I watched every young American who walked on the plane and I wondered, “Is that another Fulbrighter?” The flight didn’t exactly live up to its name, though – I slept most of the way.
We arrived in Seoul at 5 am, signed in with our Orientation Coordinators at the airport, hanging out in a disoriented sort of way with one another. Once we’d all gone through the necessary procedures, we boarded the bus to Goesan, loading up our gargantuan amounts of luggage on separate buses. We arrived in Goesan mid-morning, and, after having some time to meet our roommates and unpack, we immediately hit the ground running with orientation.
